Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Training Package: (Release 8.1):

Needs and Gap Analysis

Project Overview

In summary, the desired impact of the project is to create insights which will lead to a more relevant, adaptable, and comprehensive Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Training Package: (Release 8.1): that produces job-ready graduates, which benefit both the workforce and industry while upholding principles of privacy, ethics, diversity, and accessibility.

  • As the ICT industry continually evolves and diversifies, it is imperative that training packages offer relevant training products, equipping learners with specialised skills and knowledge that align directly with the current and emerging demands of the job market.

The project aims to review the current usage and identify the gaps in using the ICT training package. Tasks will include: define potential areas of action and provide an ICT Review Report which will outline the needs and gap analysis findings, insights, and recommendations.

After the project has been delivered, a review of the outcomes and recommendations will be undertaken to inform next course of appropriate action. This could include but is not limited to areas of cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Intellectual Property (IP), privacy, diversity, and ethics.

Additionally, the Needs and Gap Analysis will offer insights into the extent that employers understand the content of the ICT Training Package and the skills and knowledge acquired by learners through completion of qualifications / skillsets. It will also provide information on whether the skills and knowledge in the ICT Training Package meet the needs of employers. The Activity will provide valuable insights that enhance the VET sector responsiveness to industry needs, thus creating a more agile and effective workforce development framework.
