Overview
In response to the urgent and growing demand for digital capability across the Australian economy, this project is developing a suite of training products that define essential digital skills for today’s workforce, supported by collaboration with delivery partners to create training resources. These training products are designed for use across industries and job roles, supporting learners, workers and anyone who needs the skills to work confidently and safely in an increasingly digital environment.
Project scope includes:
- Digital Capability Units of Competency
- Generalist Artificial Intelligence Units of Competency
- Generalist Cyber Security Units of Competency
This project supports a more consistent and scalable approach to digital capability training across industries.
Impact
For learners: Earlier access to generalist digital capability training, improved employability in a rapidly changing economy, and defined pathways into AI, cyber security and digital capability skill sets.
For training providers: Stronger course offerings that remain current and aligned with employer demand.
For industry: Access to a digitally capable workforce, reducing skills gaps, supporting competitiveness, and building confidence that training is aligned with international standards and national frameworks.
Background Information
This project is developing training products based on the internationally recognised DigComp 3.0 framework, using the new Unit of Competency – Application of Skills and Knowledge (ASK) template, in line following the Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF) (1 July 2025) requirements.
The final accredited training products will sit within the BSB Training Package for cross-industry use.
Consultation & feedback
A targeted consultation strategy is incorporated into each project plan, using a range of engagement methods to capture diverse perspectives. In line with the Training Package Organising Framework (TPOF), project development and endorsement processes include the establishment of a Technical Committee to ensure consistent representation across all training product projects.
Public and government consultation is now open. See details in the Consultation tab above.
