Shaping the Future of Employment Services

August 2026

FSO welcomes and strongly supports the stated objectives for Australia’s employment services system.

These are also FSO’s objectives in delivering for the finance, technology, and business sectors – real jobs, real pay, real pathways.

Connect people with real jobs

FTB occupations are growth occupations in the labour market.  FTB in-demand occupations accounted for 24.6 percent of the total Australian workforce in 2025.  FTB occupation growth is expected to outpace the broader economy, with technology as the primary driver.  Connecting people with real jobs depends on employment services being closely tuned to actual vacancies and genuine skill demand.  This is something FSO is well placed to support for the FTB sectors.  The Finance, Technology, and Business sectors offer people real jobs.

Enable people to share in Australia’s prosperity

Not only does the FTB sectors offer job security, but many jobs are also well paid – well above the national average weekly earnings of $2,050.10 (November 2025).  Sharing in Australia’s prosperity starts with industry opportunities for growth and with employers and employment systems in place to support that growth.  Jobs in FTB can offer extended tenure and career pathways, especially when offered through earn while you learn models and through apprenticeships and traineeships.  The Finance, Technology, and Business sectors enable people to share in Australia’s prosperity.

Recognise different pathways to work

The key to gaining a real job and sharing in Australia’s prosperity is employer identified entry level positions and finding alternative pathways for entry into FTB.  FSO has been developing a range of approaches to address shortfalls in FTB in-demand occupations, which will be of benefit to Australia’s employment service providers and to those seeking employment.  The Finance, Technology, and Business sectors offer different pathways to work.
