National Skills Plan paves the way for a technology-driven future
October 8, 2024
The inaugural National Skills Plan will guide the work of all governments to deliver a shared vision focused on eight key outcomes.
Federal and State and Territory Skills and Training Ministers launched the National Skills Plan last month, a key initiative of the National Skills Agreement.
The Plan marks a critical stage in preparing the nation for the challenges and opportunities of a technology-driven future.
It focuses on eight key national priorities and outcomes, including Ensuring Australia’s Digital and Technology Capability, to build a skilled Australia through VET.
Digital capability underpins the Australian economy
The future of work will continue to be shaped by digital technologies and Australia must develop the skills necessary to realise the potential in every person and every business.
By prioritising digital and technological capabilities and fostering industry-led training through a unified approach among industry, governments, and education providers, we have a unique opportunity to accelerate the necessary changes.
Future Skills Organisation's (FSO) role is to support, enable, and facilitate this effort by collaborating with key stakeholders to prioritise the most critical areas first.
Your voice shapes the agenda for action
Our plan is described in the FSO Workforce Plan 2024: Agenda for Action, which aligns closely with the National Skills Plan.
It identifies the most critical priorities: bridging the digital skills gap across all job sectors, enhancing the relevance of training to keep pace with technological advancements, ensuring learning and employment pathways are widely accessible and valued, and strengthening the capacity and capabilities of training providers.
The workforce planning process must reflect the real needs of industry and training providers. We’re already working on Workforce Plan 2025, and we want to hear your voice.
To get involved, become an FSO Collaborator and join the thousands contributing to building a skilled workforce in finance, tech, and business.
