Digital Capability Training Product Trial
Commencement date: Quarter 1, 2025
End date: Quarter 4, 2026
The Digital Capability Training Product Trial (TPT) aims to fast-track industry-led, high-quality digital capability skills, including generalist AI and generalist cyber skills, to address Australia’s critical digital skills gap.
Project overview
The objective of this project is to accelerate the development and delivery of high-quality, industry-led digital capability Units of Competency (UoC) – including generalist AI and generalist cyber skills – and supporting resources to address Australia’s critical digital skills gap.
In response to these challenges, the activity will design UoC that define essential digital skills across the economy and collaborate with partners to develop and deliver innovative training resources. Training products will be developed based on the DigComp 2.2 framework and tested through the new TPT approach in order to fast-track skills development.
The project will run in parallel with the Training Package Organisation Framework (TPOF) process to ensure alignment with national accreditation standards while enabling early testing and feedback.
The final accredited UoC will be housed within the BSB Training Package for broad cross-industry application.
Consultation with industry will inform the development of Digital Capability Proficiency Profiles. These profiles will utilise the outcomes of the UoCs developed to create industry informed profiles. The profiles will also inform critical aspects of this project (e.g. resources + delivery priority) and support the adoption of the final accredited training products.
Timeline
Scoping of the training products will commence in May 2025.
Development of learning and assessment materials will commence later in the year.
Training product trials will commence as products are finalised ready for enrolments both online and face to face.
Consultation and feedback
The TPT project is driven by extensive consultation and feedback from key stakeholders across industry, education, and workforce development and will commence in May 2025.
We’ll soon be opening an Expression of Interest to join our Digital Capability TPT Working Group. To receive updates, please subscribe to this project.
The working group will offer guidance and contribute to the development of training products, as well as learning and assessment resources.
